FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…June 12, 2015…COSTA MESA, CALIF….5 Saturdays, an innovative Orange County-based education program, announced that Scrum Day San Diego is a donor, supporting 5 Saturdays’ initiatives focused on teaching high school students Agility using Scrum and Kanban, as well as helping them open a door to a career in information technology and business.

Scrum Day San Diego is an annual one-day conference of Agile practitioners speaking to other practitioners about how they have navigated Agile pathways for themselves and their organizations. 5 Saturdays founder Dave Cornelius, DM, will present information about the education program at Scrum Day San Diego on Friday, June 12, 2015.

According to Dr. Cornelius, support from Scrum Day San Diego reflects growing recognition from the Agile community about the group’s efforts to engage high school students. “I am very happy that Scrum Day San Diego supports 5 Saturdays,” he said. “Our model is based on volunteer professionals mentoring students and exposing them to a career in technology and business, as well as teaching them life skills, such as creative and critical thinking, effective communications, and Agility using Scrum and Kanban. The Scrum and Agile community in San Diego County is strong, and we hope participants will be inspired to take 5 Saturdays into their local communities.”

Carlton Nettleton, organizer of Scrum Day San Diego, said his group is pleased to support the 5 Saturdays program. “We actively support programs and activities focused on teaching and applying Agile and Scrum principles and practices,” Nettleton said. “We are impressed with 5 Saturdays and its vision of reaching students and introducing them to Agile, Scrum, and other important life skills. We hope participants at our event will be interested in supporting this innovative education outreach.”
